Who gets to decide what is normal?
This one is for the person who has never been particularly interested in doing things the way they’re supposed to be done. You have opinions, a flair for the dramatic, and a vision for how life should look, even if nobody else quite gets it. You don’t mind being a little misunderstood, you appreciate the occasional bit of chaos, and you’ve probably said “I know what I’m doing” while absolutely making it up as you go.
Catherine O’Hara left such an imprint on our world. Through her bold expression, she and Tim Burton have always reminded me that imagination can transform the everyday into something extraordinary. The strange becomes familiar, the familiar becomes surreal, and the world gets a little more interesting when we stop insisting that everything make sense.
Delia Deetz has a vision, and she’s determined to make the world reflect it. As an artist, I understand that impulse. I take something that exists in my imagination and work to make it tangible, and to be remembered by that.
